Animal Development

Rationale

Students struggle with learning animal development. We are writing this inventory to help identify the misconceptions affecting student learning in courses that teach embryology and development. We are currently targeting this inventory at first and second year university courses in which the process of animal development is first introduced, but we hope to eventually expand the inventory to include upper level courses that address development in more depth.

Development Timeframe

The Animal Development inventory is in the early stages of production. Contributors have already held preliminary open-ended interviews with undergraduate students. We are currently working to identify the concepts that confuse students and to write questions that test these concepts. It is anticipated that this inventory will be ready for use in fall/winter 2013.

Number of Questions

The questions are currently under development.
